CM says 20 per cent seats will be reserved for Goan students

PANJIM: The State Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to establish the India International University of Legal Education and Research of Bar Council of India Trust in the State. 

Briefing media post-cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that Bar Council of India will establish the India International University of Legal Education and Research in the State and 20 per cent seats will be reserved for Goan students. 

The Goa government will provide land on long term lease basis to the Bar Council of India to set up the University.  However, no land has been finalised so far, he said. 

All the expenses and operational costs will be borne by the Bar Council of India, he added. 

The Chief Minister further informed that Asia’s second International Arbitration Centre will be established in Goa. It will be related to the University and will be run by the Bar Council of India Trust.

Currently, Asia’s first International Arbitration Centre is operational in Singapore.
