Panjim MLA and Revenue Minister has sought suggestions from the Heritage precinct residents of Panjim to look into making changes to improve the lives of the residents.

The residents have been complaining regarding unruly behaviour and indiscipline by tourists in St Tome, St Sebastian and Fontainhas areas. The problem arose after resident Aloo Pereira who has been vocal regarding the problems of the area objected to the behaviour of unruly tourists which resulted in an altercation.

MLA Atanasio alias Babush Monserrate said that the tourists who visit the heritage precinct are not not class tourists, "they don't know the culture and architecture of the heritage precinct. Residents have no issues on having tourism but they should be behaving correctly" he said.

Babush has asked the residents to provide him with a list of suggestions that can further be a part of a rules and regulations manual that tourists that will enter follow. "Tourists are always welcome but they need to behave" he added.

Aloo Pereira said "If this continues in Heritage Precinct our wives and daughters won't be safe in Goa. We had to get the MLA involved and we have suggested what needs to be done. We don't need this kind of tourism in Goa and I hope the problems will be resolved.

Babush said that there are rules but there has to be someone to enforce them. "A meeting will be held with officials and solutions will be worked out in coordination with the officials after inspection" he said.
