VASCO: The Dabolim Airport police arrested an Italian national for attempting to board a domestic flight carrying a prohibited GPS device, at the Dabolim international airport on Friday.
The incident occurred at around 6 pm when security personnel of the Central industrial Security Force (CISF) unit discovered the device, a “GARMIN inReach MINI 2,” during screening of baggage and belonging at the domestic terminal of Dabolim Airport, while the passenger was in the process of boarding a domestic flight proceeding from Goa to Chennai and thereafter from Chennai to Colombo.
Nirbhay Kumar of CISF found Giacamo De Ferrari, 19 from Italy was 2” in his baggage and the same is seized from his possession since it was prohibited to be carried in hand baggage. The foreigner had no permission from competent authority to carry the said device.
The police later arrested the Italian national and seized the GPS device.
The Dabolim Airport police have registered a case against De Ferrari under Section 6 (1A) of the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act of 1933 and Section 20 of the Indian Telegraph Act of 1885.
