PANJIM: Goa Konkani Akademi (GKA) Chairman Madhav Borkar, Vice Chairman Jose Lourenco and member Kamlakar Mhalshi on Wednesday resigned citing issues in receiving funds from the government to conduct various Konkani language promotion programmes.
“There is no autonomy to Konkani Akademi and no government cooperation for fund allotment,” Borkar said, after tendering his resignation.
“For every proposal, approval was needed from all levels. What kind of autonomy is this?” he asked. “We got fund this time only for salary of staff and administrative work and that too after lot of efforts,” he added.
Borkar had replaced Pundalik Narayan Naik whose term ended in April last year.
Borkar retired as Station Director of All India Radio and has also served All India Radio at Mumbai, Mangaluru and Kolhapur.
