Kushawati’s Griha Aadhar was cancelled due to another Kushawati; Sarpanch says she has no clue

SANGUEM: Kushawati Gaonkar of Kazur, Sanguem has stopped getting her Griha Aadhar Benefit for the last five years. Nilima Gaonkar, daughter-in-law of Kushawati Gaonkar has stated that another Kushawati Gaonkar also lives in the same village used to get Griha Aadhar. When she crossed 60 years she asked for cancellation of her Griha Aadhar benefits of Rs 1500 and opted for the Pension Scheme which is Rs 2000, since any one scheme can be availed of at a time. In the bargain, it is possible that they cancelled my mother in law’s Griha Aadhar benefits. The Sarpanch said she is not aware of this case.

Nilima Gaonkar, daughter-in-law of Kushawati Gaonkar has stated that the other Kushawati Gaonkar also lives in the same village and used to get Griha Aadhar. She lost her husband and when she crossed 60 years she asked for cancellation of her Griha Aadhar benefits and opted for the Pension Scheme which is Rs 2000.

“It is high possible that while cancelling the Griha Aadhar of the second Kushwati Gaonkar, they cancelled the Griha Aadhar of her mother in law. But they should have at least checked the Aadhar Card before cancelling,” Nilima Gaonkar said. She also revealed that her mother in law’s name is Kushawati Tolio Gaonkar, while the second Kushawati’s full name is Kushawati Kushali Gaonkar. “This was told to the Social Welfare Department, but even then they did not release the Griha Aadhar after submitting the necessary forms.” Nilima stated. 

The sarpanch of Caurem Pirla Panchayat Vidhi Velip said that Kushawati Gaonkar never came to the panchayat and told us about her problem and we do not know the issue she is facing. If she had to inform us, we would have followed up her case, Velip told O Heraldo.

“Whenever there are issues such as this, we go to the local MLA and sort them out. Whether it is stoppage of Griha Aadhar, or Dayanand Social Security Scheme. There are no cases which are pending. We have done the work of all the locals, we have not blocked anyone’s benefits,” Velip said.

When asked if she knew about the existence of another Kushawati in the village panchayat due to which the Griha Aadhar of Kushawati Gaonkar of Kazur was stopped, Velip replied in the negative. “Now that you have informed us, I will go to Kazur and find out about this Kushawati. You are saying that her Griha Aadhar has stopped for five years. We don’t know anything. But we will inquire and solve this case,” the sarpanch assured.
