PONDA: Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) President and leader Deepak Dhavalikar said they would launch their campaign for the 2022 elections in January 2021. Deepak urged the party workers to forget their differences and work for their victory in the coming Assembly elections.

“We will be offering a coconut to Goddess Mahalsa at Mardol to begin our campaign,” said Deepak.

“The Election Commission has directed us to convene a General Body Election of the party before February 2021. We will, however, do it before January 2021 end,” said Deepak, whose tenure as president was extended for two terms. Covid-19 has also delayed the general body election, Deepak added.

He said the general body will decide whether to elect a new President or re-elect him. He also urged party workers not to fall prey to the lures of the opposition parties.

“Opposition parties are out to finish the Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party in connivance with disgruntled elementswithin our party,” said the two-time MLA.

“The recent claim by 27 people that they are delegates of the party and moving a no confidence motion against Party President has no truth. They may be party workers not delegates,”Deepak stressed.

He said MGP has a strong base in Ponda Taluka and would win all the four seats. Besides MGP has strong base in Pernem and Mandremwhere recently new party workers have joined. He said MGP is the only party that can give a fight to the BJP.

“MGP workers should take ideas from other parties where their karyakartas work for victory of the candidatedecided by the party and look at the Party symbol and think of party welfare all the time,” while urging the workers to work for the growth and also towards strengthening their women wing in Goa.

He urged party workers not to fall prey to the opposition parties who are always eyeing to finish the party of Bahujans. He also urged the youth to take the party leadership on their shoulders as most of the senior leaders are aged. “Young leadership is needed to fulfill dreams of Goans,” Deepak concluded.
