PANJIM: North Goa Superintendent of Police (SP) Akshat Kaushal held a conference on “Urban Policing” with the chief officers of Mapusa, Bicholim and Sanquelim and representatives of Corporation of the City of Panjim (CCP).
The meeting held as per the recommendation made in the DGPs/IGPs Conference 2023, was also attended by representatives of Pernem and Valpoi Municipal Council, Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ/North), Porvorim and all Sub-Divisional Police Officers of North Goa District.
The issues discussed in the conference included police and municipal authorities working in coordination to curb illegalities, dumping of garbage, illegal hawkers and vendors, illegal constructions, encroachment on roads and market places.
It was decided to organize a joint drive by the Officials of police and municipal councils for verification of servants, tenants, enforcement of COTPA Act, Non-Biodegradable Garbage Act and Smoking/ Spitting Act.
The municipal authorities were advised to share information to police for better urban policing.
The SP assured the officials of the municipal councils in North Goa District that necessary police staff will be provided as police protection during the anti-encroachment drive and other drives upon the request of the concerned Municipal Council.
