One killed as truck rams into electricity pole and roadside shops at Pernem

PERNEM: An occupant of a truck from Gujarat died after it collided against an electricity pole and three roadside shops at Poroscodem, here on early morning Saturday. 

The truck driver also suffered injuries and is undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim.

The accident occurred near Mauli Temple, Poroscodem, Pernem when Zala Jagdishbhai Dayabhai, 29 from Wankaner Rupavati, Morbi, Gujarat drove a loaded in a rash and negligent manner and collided against an electricity pole installed on the divider and thereafter rammed into three shops and three parked vehicles.

Following the mishap, an occupant in the truck, Mer Pravinbhai, 43, a native of Rajkot, Gujarat, who was seriously injured succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the GMC, Bambolim. The driver, who sustained injuries is currently undergoing treatment at the GMC.

The Pernem police have registered a case against the truck driver under Sections 279, 337 and 304 A of IPC in this connection. Further investigations are on, police said.
