MARGAO: Residents of Housing Board, Rumdamol-Davorlim, are currently in a state of panic following the tragic death of a five-year-old child due to dengue.

Upon hearing the news, local MLA Ulhas Tuenkar, along with officials from the Health Centre and the local panchayat, visited the sites. They were shocked to discover several mosquito breeding areas within the jurisdiction of the panchayat. Tuenkar instructed authorities to take action against residents who have neglected to maintain cleanliness in the area.

“During our inspection, we noticed tires and plastic dumped, creating a breeding ground for mosquitoes. We even saw barrels with water left inside for several days,” said MLA Tuenkar. “I have instructed the officials to take action against those responsible for making the area unhygienic.” He expressed shock over the residents’ carelessness regarding health issues and  instructed the health centre officials to spray the area and conduct fogging as a temporary measure. Urfan Mulla, a local leader, alleged that several illegal activities, including houses and rooms being rented out to outsiders, have been reported in the area. “These illegalities are also one of the causes of  health hazards. They seem to be least bothered about cleanliness,” alleged Mulla, who demanded that the p’yat survey houses and conduct cleaning drives.
