Parents suspect contaminated water at Curti swimming pool

PONDA: After the conclusion of the 37th National Games, the swimming pool at Curti, Ponda has been abruptly closed due to the sudden discovery that the water in the pool is contaminated. 

The closure has inconvenienced children undergoing training, prompting parents to call on Sports Minister Govind Gaude to intervene and initiate the reopening of a new swimming facility.

The parents who suspect that the water in the swimming pool at the Curti sports complex has become contaminated, and have raised concerns about the issue. 

For the past 14 years, water from a nearby well was being pumped into the pool, at which children from Ponda area did their swimming training. However, some parents have raised suspicions that with the recent heavy rainfall water from a nearby drain, located one to two meters away from the well, may have seeped into the water source.

Concerned officer Rohidas Ghadi took water samples and conducted tests. However, tests have revealed that there are no issues with the water quality. He assured that efforts are underway to reopen the swimming pool in the coming days.
