Priya Ajay Yadav arrested in railway job scam by Bicholim Police, gold, vehicles worth Rs  27 lakh recovered

Yadav was produced in court and was sent to police custody for 7 days.

BICHOLIM:  Bicholim Police has arrested Priya Ajay Yadav for cheating the the public by promising them a job in the railways. She along with Rohan Rajendra Venji cheated the complainant and others of Rs  20.7 lakh on the promise of employment in the Railways.

On August 22, 2024 Lakshmi Dalwai Resident of Bicholim Goa and North Belgaum, Karnataka had filed a complaint that in July 2023, that Priya Ajay Yadav and  Police constable Rohan Rajendra Venji cheated the complainant and others of Rs.  20,70,000/- on the pretext of employment in Railways. Then a case had been registered under Section 420 R/W 34 of IPC.

The modus operandi of the accused woman was that she told the complainant that she had a plot near the railway station in Kolhapur and that plot was being demanded by the railway authorities and in return the railway authorities promised her 10 jobs in the railways and some shops.

Further the complainant was taken to Kolhapur railway station and randomly shown the plot near Kolhapur railway station and the complainant believed her.

A few days later accused Priya Yadav asked another Rs  6 lakh from the complainant saying that he has to do paperwork.  In total the complainant paid Rs.  20 lakhs to the accused.

 During investigation, police constable Rohan Venji has been suspended for his involvement in the crime and has been issued a notice to appear by the police. Two bank accounts of this police constable have been frozen due to his involvement in this crime.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused Priya Yadav had taken gold loan by pledging the gold ornaments of the victims.  Further gold ornaments weighing around 116 grams cost approximately Rs  9 lakh were seized in the crime for further investigation.

Investigation revealed that the accused Priya Yadav had cheated many residents of Bicholim of more than Rs.1 crore on the pretext of giving them a job/shop in the railways.

After the case was registered, the accused woman absconded and was not been traced till Monday.

Further Bicholim Police Station comprising of PSI Vikesh Hadfadkar, PC Vishal Parab and LPC Smita Popkar under the supervision of SDPO Jivaba were assigned to investigate in Maharashtra and the accused Priya Ajay Yadav was traced at Kaudipur using technical surveillance and intelligence.

She was hiding in Maharashtra for almost two months and was arrested in this crime.

During investigation, vehicles such as Hyundai Venue car bearing registration number GA11-A-7037, Hyundai Grand I10 car bearing registration number GA11-A-6001, Vespa scooter bearing registration number GA11-J-7291 and Activa scooter bearing registration number GA- 04-P-0322 total worth Rs 18 lakh were recovered from the accused.

 The entire operation was carried out by a police team consisting of PI Dinesh Gadekar, PSI Vikesh Hadfadkar, PC Vishal Parab, LPC Smita Popkar under the supervision of SDPO Bicholim Mr. Jivaba Dalvi and under the guidance of SP North IPS Akshat Kaushal.

When the accused woman was produced in court, she was sent to police custody for 7 days. Further investigation is underway.
