PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is likely to reshuffle the portfolios of his Cabinet colleagues following the induction of Aleixo Sequeira as minister.
A few hours before the Cabinet reshuffle on Sunday, the Chief Minister had dropped enough hints about reallocation of portfolios among the ministers.
Cabral, who quit as minister, was allocated PWD, Environment and Law, Judiciary and Legislative Affairs.
The possibility of these portfolios to be given to Sequeira, isn’t very high, though not ruled out.
Barring two, most ministers have been given three portfolios each. Only Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has been allocated five while Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho has been given four portfolios.
There are possibilities that one department of a couple of senior ministers, holding multiple portfolios, could be withdrawn and redistributed for a more balanced work allocation.
The Chief Minister could distribute some of the portfolios held by him.
This allocation of portfolios could witness another round of distribution if the CM effects a second cabinet rejig to accommodate at least two rebel Congress MLAs.
