PANJIM: A female Russian DJ who has been coming to Goa for over a decade to perform at parties has been nabbed with the date-rape drug Gamma Hydroxy butyrate (GHB) and marijuana worth Rs 16 lakh.
According to Tikam Singh Verma, the SP of the Goa Police Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), which carried out the arrest, the DJ was staying in a rented room at Keri, from where she was picked up on Thursday.
“Three weeks back, the ANC had busted a pan-India network of LSD papers, where a Kerala youth was arrested with drugs worth Rs 1 crore. From him, we got the information that there was a possibility of finding GHB drugs in Goa. Activating our surveillance network, we narrowed down on the Russian DJ, who used to play at small parties in Goa,” he said.
During the raid, the ANC officers found about 300 grams of GHB and over 30 grams of marijuana, or ganja, at her residence. She has been remanded in police custody for two days, the SP said.
“The accused has been visiting Goa since 2013 on a tourist visa. Proper tenant verification was done at the house where she is currently staying. We are trying to find out where she was staying earlier,” Verma added.
