Sancoale Villagers say ‘NO’ to land conversion, demand new Regional Plan

SANCOALE: Villagers of Sancoale along with Pernem Nagrik Samiti and Goa State Citizens Forum and people from across Goa protested at Sancoale, the nerve centre of the fight against Bhutani Infra Mega project and demanded to enact a new Regional Plan and stop land conversions to favour outsiders and mega builders. They demanded scrapping of the Bhutani Project whereas Pernem people said they have been treated like dogs and driven to poverty, even as mega projects such as Mopa Airport and Hospitals had come to their taluka.

Villagers of Sancoale said that outsiders had put the government in their pockets. They demanded a new Regional Plan and stop the rampant conversion of land to suit Delhi and Gurgao builders

The new Regional Plan has to be done by the people, not by the government or the outside builders, they demanded

One villager stated that as declared by Director of Panchayats, the Sancoale Village Panchayat has the right to withdraw permissions to Bhutani. They also pointed out that Premanand Naik’s fast had entered the 6th day and his condition is deteriorating

Pundalik Dhargalkar of Pernem said that government has become government of outsiders They only come to Goans for votes and fool the people with promises Pernem people have been treated like dogs and pushed into poverty Though Mega projects like Mopa Airport and hospitals had come to Pernem, they were of no benefit to locals they said.
