Ponda: After two years of low-key celebrations due to the Covid-19 pandemic, three Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandals in Ponda are gearing up for grand festivities this year.
The Sarvajanik Ganeshotav Mandal in Sadar, Ponda, has completed 51 years but is celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year, after missing out on marking the event in 2021, due to pandemic restrictions.
From Day 1, huge crowds of devotees were seen flocking to the mandals for darshan, with no fear of contracting the Covid virus.
The two other mandals, Zareshwar Sarvajanik Ganeshotav Mandal at the Old Bus Stand and Budhwar Peth Ganeshotav Mandal at Ponda Market have completed more than twenty-five years.
The three mandals have planned various programmes over the 11-days of the community festivities, including bhajan events, kirtans, ghumot competitions and other entertainment programmes, that will witness the enthusiastic participation of people from across religions.
