PANJIM: Goa Congress which has been vocal about the cash for government jobs scam happening in the State, had warned the government, that if it does not take action, then the party men would come on the streets to protest. As the deadline for the ultimatum ended on Monday, the party has not acted yet. In this edition of Street Voices, Herald TV spoke to people on whether the Congress is serious about putting pressure on government and agitate about the jobs scam?
They are all birds of the same feather, whether it is Congress, BJP or MGP government. They used to take money, but to a lesser extent for jobs. They also used to give jobs on influence. Without influence one would not get jobs. This started after the Rane Government laid down office. The present job scam is happening on a high altitude. The investigation is an eye-wash. There are big fish involved. The chances of Congress putting pressure on the government is very less. Only activists will put pressure.

Job scam is growing bigger and bigger as police arrest more and more people. So you can judge how big the scam is. People have spent their live savings on paying consideration for jobs. There is need for proper investigation of the job scam and give justice to the victims. The Opposition has been weak in responding to the jobs scam. They should have hit the road along with their office bearers and workers. They should have demanded the resignation of the CM. But they are not doing it. Are they too hand in glove?

It is crystal clear that there is a jobs scam. And many ruling party supporters are involved. There is no need to go far to search for the godfather or godmother. The Opposition is small, but they have more than 2 lakh voters. You can gather your supporters and you can gherao the CM’s office and force them to hand over this case to the CBI.

The jobs scam has become a major issue. The Opposition parties should not only hold press conferences but they need to come out on the streets. The money of many of our youth have been swindled. Now they have neither the jobs nor the money. The opposition should come out on the streets and ensure that the money is returned to the victims and justice be done to them. There should be strict action. This issue will not be solved by taking press conferences, but by stepping out onto the streets.
