Subhash Velingkar capitalizes on police inaction, applies for bail in High Court

PANJIM: After the Goa Police failed to arrest Former RSS Goa Chief, despite the Court directions, Subhash Velingkar filed for anticipatory bail in the Panjim Bench of the Bombay High Court, for his unwarranted remarks against St Francis Xavier. Adv Saresh D Lotlikar through Adv Rohan Desai filed the anticipatory bail application of Velingkar in the High Court. The batter has been fixed hearing at 10 am, Thursday, October 10.

 

After the Goa Police failed to arrest Former RSS Goa Chief, despite the Court directions, Subhash Velingkar filed for anticipatory bail in the High Court. While on Tuesday there were at least 100 police posted at Bicholim Police Station where Velingkar was supposed to appear before the police, with his supporters, there was not such police bandobast on Wednesday.

Subhash Velingkar made the preposterous statements at a public meeting against St Francis Xavier at Bicholim. There after Goa was rocked by huge public protests on the streets of Margao and other places, all over Goa. Due to public pressure finally the Bicholim police lodged an FIR against Velingkar on October 5th, 2024

The Bicholim police sent three notices to Velingkar calling on him to be present before them. Despite vociferous demands for his arrest, police stated that teams were sent but they could not find him.

 

Meanwhile, during the days when police claimed to be looking for him, a video surfaced on social media two days ago, where Velingkar was seen giving interview to a national channel.

Velingkar's bail plea in the additional sessions court was rejected  on 7th October. Meanwhile, the AICC General Secretary Anjali Nimbalkar said despite court judgements on hate speeches, why has the CM not ensured that Velingkar has been arrested.
