Tamnar towers at Mapusa get cabinet nod

PANJIM: The State Cabinet on Wednesday granted permission for erection of power transmission towers on government land (erstwhile Evacuee Property) by Goa Tamnar Transmission Project Limited for construction of 400KV double circuit from at Xeldem, Mapusa.

The cabinet gave its approval for erecting power transmission towers even as NGOs and others have challenged before the High Court the Stage-II forest clearance granted for the construction of the 400 KV transmission lines from Xeldem to Mapusa.

Briefing the media post cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said the cabinet also gave approval for procurement of land for setting up of new 33/11 KV 2x20 MVA electricity sub-station at Aradi, Calangute.

The cabinet gave post-facto approval for revised expenditure sanction to the estimate amounting to Rs 1,38,02,013 and to release excess amount of Rs 31,27,713 towards the work of proposed automobile building for the State Directorate of Craftsman Training at ITI Sattari.

Ex-post approval was also granted for appointment of Dr Rajeev Ranjan as quality manager and Dr Naveen Alamuri as technical supervisor in the blood bank, Goa Medical College on contract basis and for appointment of Pandurang alias Prathamesh Naik, lecturer in medicine, GMC.

The cabinet also approved another proposal for appointment of Dr Sukhaji Naik as Member of Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) and gave ex-post approval for appointment of Digambar Kankonkar as member secretary of Institute Menezes Braganza.

The cabinet approved filling up eight temporary posts in the District and Sessions Court, Panjim, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Sawant said that the cabinet gave approval for allotment of barren land at Dharbandora to Shree Sateri Pissal Education Society, Ponda, for the proposed multi-faculty degree college for the benefit of students belonging to Scheduled Tribes (ST) communities. Currently, the degree college is housed in the Government High School at Dayanandnagar, Dharbandora since 2013. 

A proposal for stop-gap arrangement for operation and maintenance of parking at Calangute through the local village panchayat till finalisation of new tender was also approved by the cabinet. 

The cabinet further grave ex-post approval for purchase of powder-free surgical gloves during COVID-19 pandemic costing Rs 19.20 lakh.
