SANGUEM: A day after the tragic accident at Sanguem in which a woman and her son met a watery grave when their car plunged into the river at Taripanto Sanguem,  the Fire and Emergency Services personnel with the help of the Sanguem Police and the locals on Tuesday retrieved the body of 38-year-old Milind Naik, the third victim.

The bodies of Milind’s wife Rekha (35) and their son Divyansh were recovered on Monday night.

The accident took place on Monday at about 8.30 pm while the family was on their way back to their rented premises at Cacora after visiting Rekha’s parents who reside at a farm at Kuinamol, Sanguem.

It is learnt that Milind, who was driving the ill-fated car, is believed to have lost control of the vehicle and as a result the car plunged into the river as the bridge had no parapet or any protective structure at both ends. Had there been any protective structure or a parapet, the car would have not plunged into the river, claimed the locals, who have been complaining about the bad condition of the bridge for the past two years.

The police have installed two barricades on either side of the bridge.

Milind, who hailed from Marangan-Sanguem, was residing in a rented premise at Cacora since his marriage. He was working in a private firm at Curchorem.

Following the tragic news, a pall of gloom descended on Marangan and neighbouring Kuinamol.
