PONDA: Tragedy struck the Wadkar family from Betki when 36-year-old Anjali Amit Wadker and her 10-year-old son Bhavesh Wadkar died after a tree crashed on the parking shed adjacent to the house at Ankallewada.
Immediately after the incident, both were rushed to the Betki Primary Health Centre (PHC) where the doctors on duty declared them brought dead.
After the tragic incident which occurred at 6.30 pm, a pall of gloom descended on the village.
Anjali leaves behind her husband and a minor daughter.
It is learnt that both, Anjali and her son were in a parking shed adjacent to the house and were boiling water on chulla when suddenly the tree crashed on the shed. The impact was such that both the victims got trapped under the debris. They were rescued but succumbed to their injuries. A car and two scooters were parked in the shed.
