Panjim: Congress on Thursday questioned the State government’s reluctance to lockdown entire Mormugao taluka, which houses the COVID-19 containment zone Mangor Hill, despite the growing demand from the locals.  Addressing media persons, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Vice-President Sankalp Amonkar sought to know from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, what is stopping him from imposing the lockdown.

“All the people from Mormugao taluka, including BJP’s own MLAs Mauvin Godinho and Carlos Alemida have demanded for a lockdown in the taluka. Even the councillors, sarpanchas and panch members have requested. Despite this, the govt has shown no willingness,” he said.

He alleged that the lockdown has not been imposed in order to allow the transportation of coal and other minerals from MPT. He further alleged that the lockdown has not been enforced to protect the business of Mormugao MLA Milind Naik, who is working as agent of all the works at the port.
