Caranzalem Ramponkars have opposed the demarcation of the water sports zone at Caranzalem Beach. The irked rankers accused the government of destroying their traditional occupation. They said that this is our traditional occupation and our families have been in this business for ages. Traditional fishermen or 'ramponkars' of Caranzalem have demanded that the water sports activities along the beach be stopped immediately. They alleged that the movement of jet skis and other mechanical sports disturbs the fish and affects their fishing. They informed us that Water sports activities are restricted to demarcated zones.

He further informed me that there is a lot of marine life that will get spoiled due to such activities. He even said that we get a different variety of fish in this area. If our request is not taken seriously, they will block the channel. He further pointed out that departments have already spoiled Dona Paula Beach with such activities.  He further added on saying that "They cannot carry out activities within fishing limits even with a license. Such activities disturb the fish and our fishing practices must come to an immediate stop. He added.

Other members said “No matter who comes we will stop this and we as Goans are very powerful” With the help of Ramponkars union we will make this a success, he added. “Our concern association is in full support towards the ramponkars over the illegal water sports activity being carried out in the waters, he informed.
