The City Corporation of Panjim (CCP) recently conducted a joint pre-monsoon inspection in flood-prone areas, such as Miramar and Stella Maris. Mayor Rohit Monserrate along with smart city officials and Water resource department officials visited the site. Mayor Monserrate acknowledged the persistent problem of flooding faced by Stella Maris over the past decade.

However, the Mayor assured that the CCP is actively working towards finding a solution to this issue. He highlighted the challenges during this work such as the digging of roads for the smart city works and expressed the administration's commitment to exploring alternative methods to alleviate the problem.

He further said that CCP has collaborated with the Water Resource Department to address the flooding concerns around Stella Maris and Miramar Road and has requested the installation of new drainage systems in these areas.

He even highlighted the persistent issue of drains getting choked due to the underlying wires in the stretch from Miramar to Bal Bhavan. However, he said that efforts are underway to divert drainage as in some areas moving these wires is not possible.

He further said that the goal is to eliminate the flooding issues that have plagued areas like Stella Maris for the past decade. The aim this year is to improve flooding risks during the monsoon season.
