In a show of solidarity, 'Goans for Goa' organized an open mic solidarity meeting titled 'Goans For OCI' to express support for those impacted by the unexpected revocation of Indian passports and the denial of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status. During the gathering, activists highlighted the challenges faced by those who have left Goa in pursuit of employment opportunities, attributing this migration to the government's alleged failure to provide sufficient jobs in Goa.

Emphasizing the significance of remittances, they stated that revenue from Goans living abroad constitutes a major financial support system for Goa's economy.

Advocate Sadanand Vaigankar, deeply concerned about the situation, criticized the government's decision as ill-considered. "Regardless of their occupations abroad, their remittances bolster our financial framework. This government decision is detrimental as they significantly contribute to Goa's budget. Every decision should be meticulously planned; unfortunately, this decision seems rushed," Vaigankar expressed.

He further added, drawing historical context, "While the Portuguese exploited Goa, they also provided opportunities for jobs and education to the people, especially the youth."

Xencor Polji, echoing similar sentiments, highlighted the government's failure in job provisions, asserting, "People leave Goa to seek livelihoods and sustenance elsewhere. This migration benefits us too, augmenting our revenue. In fact, many local youngsters engaged in illicit activities often seek opportunities abroad through their networks and secure decent employment."
