Nearly 6 kgs of Ganja narcotic substance seized by Crime Branch and Calangute police in two different raids

Crime Branch and Calangute police in two separate raids have seized over 6 kilograms of Ganja narcotic substance and arrested three persons.

In the first raid conducted by Crime Branch at the parking lot of the Thivim railway station two persons were arrested who were in possession of Ganja, narcotic substance worth Rs 5 lakh. The seized contraband weighs nearly 5 kilograms.

According to a communique by the Crime Branch the team upon specific information raided Parking the lot, Near Thivim Railway Station, Thivim Bardez Goa and caught red handed two male persons namely Prabhudatta Tripathy, 28, and Shyam Sundar Singh, 23, both natives of Odisha with contraband i.e. "Ganja" weighing 5.010 Kilograms all worth Rs. 5,00,000/-.

In another raid conducted by Calangute Police near Palmarinha Resort Porbawado Calangute accused Ashru Bhima Kale, 28 from Maharashtra was found in illegal possession of narcotic drugs Ganja weighing 960 grams worth Rs. 96,000/- approximately. 

The raid was conducted after credible information was received by Calangute Police Station from the sources that one male person will be coming to deliver narcotic drugs to his prospective customers. Accordingly a raid was conducted in presence of panchas and above narcotic drugs was seized.

A complaint regarding illegal possession of narcotic drugs was filed by PSI Shri. Kiran Naik of Calangute P.S. upon which PSI Shri. Akshay Parsekar has registered an offence under the provisions of NDPS Act, 1985. 

Further investigation is in progress.
