PANJIM: In yet another gruesome tragedy, a driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, rammed his car into contract workers who were doing pothole patch work at the Mandovi Bridge, late Wednesday night. The workers sustained severe injuries and bodies and blood was splattered all over. In the horrific accident, the car hit the barricades and mowed down three workers. Their bodies were twisted and mangled.
Despite the urgency expressed by eyewitnesses, ambulance arrived 45 minutes late.
Late on Wednesday night, three workers were hospitalised after a speeding car, driven by an inebriated man, crashed into the barricades set up for road patch work on the Mandovi Bridge and rammed into the laborers. The workers were working with barricades in front and the jet patcher machine in the background.

In another tragic incident on Wednesday evening, a 51-year-old rickshaw driver, Suresh Chipan, was killed when a speeding car collided with his parked carrier on the NH 66 at the Cuncolim-Sarzora stretch. The rickshaw had been parked while Chipan was engaged in painting road signages. The two occupants of the car involved in the crash have been admitted to South Goa District Hospital for treatment.
