Sugarcane farmers demand assurance from CM of restarting the Sanjivani Sugar Factory; holds protest outside factory

Panjim-Ponda: The sugarcane farmers on Monday morning held a protest at the Sanjivani Sugar Factory entrance in large number. The farmers protested with the main demand of restarting Sanjivani Sugar Factory, Prioratize Sugarcane cultivation and timely payment of compensation to the Sugarcane farmers. The agitators warned that they will continue to protest until Government fulfil their demands. They also issued a warning to the Government to take action by 3PM, or else they shall continue protesting and will block the National Highway.  The President of Sugarcane Farmers’ Association Rajendra Dessai said that the Government had made false promises before, but this time we are not going to fall prey to the Government's fake promises. The farmers have demanded written assurance from the Chief Minister to restart the Factory.
