PANJIM: In the 3x3 Basketball Festival held at Don Bosco courts, Fatorda, close to 40 teams from across Goa including Vasco, Panjim, Porvorim, Calangute, Arpora and Margao vied for top honours.
After the three days of intense and closely fought league matches, witnessed the semi-finals and finals action. And in the end, it ended up being a dominant showing by the Don Bosco Fatorda teams in virtually all the categories. In the U-12 combined category, Don Bosco Green got the better of Don Bosco Girls 5-2. MVP of the category was Kurth Silva.
In the U-14 girls, Don Bosco Green overcame the tough resistance of Don Bosco Reds, 7-3. Aanora Gracias was named MVP.
In the U-14 boys, Sonics A managed to beat the Don Bosco monopoly, squeezing past Don Bosco Green, in extra time 6-4. Vikrant was named MVP.
In the U-16 Girls, Don Bosco Green topped their category with VRVS Vasco coming in second, Winoska was named MVP. And in the last final, in the U-16 boys after having beaten the bigger and taller euro nation teams earlier, the Don Bosco Red team triumphed against team minimals in the final 11-4.
Fr Ralin de Souza, rector of Don Bosco, Fatorda, Luis Gomes and Sonali Raut of South Goa District Basketball Association give away the prizes to the winners and runners-up.
