MAPUSA: Anjuna Veterans had to wait for the penalty shootout as they registered a 5-4 win over hosts Siolim Veterans in the All Goa Siolim Veterans football tournament organised by Siolim Veterans at Siolim ground, on Tuesday.
The teams were locked in a 1-1 draw. Lazarus Noronha put Anjuna Veterans ahead, while Jayganesh Goltekar levelled terms for Siolim Veterans.
In the penalty shootout, Anjuna Veterans won the match by 4-3 margin.
On Monday, Fatorda Veterans registered a fluent 3-1 win over Mandrem Veterans.
For the winners, Francis Andrade, Mark Revlon and Anthony Crasto scored, while Dattaram Palyekar reduced the margin for Mandrem.
Ealier, Bardez Veterans registered a hard-fought 1-0 win over Mitra Veterans.
The all-important goal for Bardez came in the second session of play where Michael Dias did the spadework and Trevor Mascarenhas scored clinically, 1-0.
