Audi wins Malaysia Rapid Chess Tournament 2023

PANJIM: International Master Ameya Audi showcased impressive performances in the Merdeka Day Open Rapid Chess Tournament 2023 and the Blitz Championship in Malaysia.

In the Rapid tournament, Ameya, seeded 3rd, displayed his prowess by defeating AFM Tan, Wei Hom Isaac (MAS), Fransico Vincent Paul (PHI), Setiawan David (INA), WCM Chua Jia Tien (MAS), Arca Christian Gian Karlo (PHI). Ameya secured 5 wins out of a possible 6 rounds in this tournament, which featured 60 participants from 7 different countries.

In the Blitz Championship, Ameya, seeded 13th, continued his outstanding performance by defeating notable players; WIM Nguyen Thanh Thuy Tien (VIE), CM Ang, Ern Jie Anderson (MAS), CM Chia Yu Zhe Ashton (SGP), DE Vera Yana Emilou (PHI), Zaw Ye Htut (Mya), Vo Thi Thuy Tien (VIE). 

Additionally, he managed to secure a draw against GM Nguyen Van Huy (VIE). Ameya’s impressive record in this tournament included 6 wins and 1 draw out of a possible 8 rounds. Ameya won the 5th place. 

The Blitz championship saw participation from 147 players, including 41 titled players, representing 16 different countries. These outstanding achievements highlight Ameya’s exceptional skills and dedication in the world of chess, and they have certainly earned him a well-deserved place on the podium in both tournaments.
