Goa‘s campaign comes to an end

PEDDEM: Top seeds in Boys Under-17  doubles , Bjorn Jaison and Aathish Sreenivas PV (Kerala) registered 21-11, 23-21, win over a Jena and Subhraketan (Orissa) to head into the quarterfinals of the Yonex - Sunrise All India Sub-Junior Badminton Ranking Tournament 2024 at Peddem ground, Mapusa. 

Tanvi Reddy Andluri (Telengana)  defeated Haasana Sree Mallavarapu (AP)  21-11, 21-13, to seal her place in girls singles U-17 quarters. In boys singles U-17, Suryaksh Rawat (UTR) defeated Divyam Sachdeva (PNB) 21-11, 21-15, to march into the quarters. 

In the boys doubles U-17: Nishchal Chand and Suryaksh Rawat (UTR) bt HV and N Yandra  21-19, 21-8; Arjun Birajdar and Aryan Birajdar (MAH) bt Jangjeet Singh Kajla and Arnav 21-13, 21-15

In the mixed doubles U-17: Bjorn Jaison (Kerala) and Varna P (TN) defeated Dhyan Santosh and Disha Santosh from Karnataka 21-18, 21-14 while K Mohammed and D Devanaboina (AP) bt Amith Raj Natraj and Suhina Roy (KTK) 21-17, 18-21, 21-19.

In the girls singles U-17: Tanvi Patri (ORI) beat Medhavi Nagar (HAR) 21-10, 21-17; Lakshya Rajesh (KTK) beat Praanjala Nisarga (TS) 21-18, 21-13; Garima Kundu (HAR) beat Ayati Dubey (GUJ) 21-19, 21-13; Baruni Parshwal (HAR) beat Jananika R (PY) 21-7, 21-11 while Adarshini Shri NB (TN) bt Dianka Waldia  (DLI) 21-18, 21-18.

In the boys singles U-17; Dev Ruparelia (MAH) beat Shaurya Agarwal (UTR) 21-17, 21-19; Dhyan Santosh (KTK) beat Mahendra Kalahasthi (AP) 21-17, 12-21, 21-18 .

In the girls doubles U-15: P Shinde and G Suryawanshi (MAH) beat Hamsini Chadaram and Navika S 18-21, 21-10, 22-20, while N Atmaram and S Selvaprabhu (KTK) bt Anushka and Rutika Kamble (MAH) 21-13, 21-16.

In the boys doubles U-15; T Budidha and T Uttam (TS) bt Pushkar Sai and Wazir Singh 12-21, 21-18, 21-18.

Meanwhile, Goa's campaign at the national tournament reached its conclusion. Despite high hopes and determined efforts, Goa's young talents faced tough challenges in their respective matches. 

Goa's Aarush Pawaskar, along with his partner Yash Sinha from Maharashtra, ranked number 5 in India, showcased resilience but ultimately succumbed to Shyam Bindiganavile and Peeyush Tripathy from Karnataka in the U-15 boys doubles (Round of 32), with a scoreline of 21-18, 21-13.

Shaheen CK and Sufiya Shaikh (Goa) in mixed doubles U-17 (R32) lost 21-16, 21-12, to Manish S Reddy and Deepak Raj Aditi of Karnataka. Jewel Abranches and Isha Borkar (Goa) suffered a defeat against Moitreyee Jana and Pratistha Paul from West Bengal in girls doubles U-15 (R32) with a score of 21-5, 21-7. Shane D’Souza and Arnav Saraf faced a setback in U-15 boys doubles (R32), losing 21-9, 21-6, to Pushkar Sai (Karnataka) and Wazir Singh (Punjab). Similarly, Shaurya Naik and Om Nandanwar (Goa) bowed out in boys doubles U-17 (R32), losing 21-10, 21-6 to A Mishra (Chhatisgarh) and S Vanlalhruaia (Mizoram).
