RAIA: Calangute Veterans pipped Chinchinim Veterans 1-0 to enter the semi-finals of Seraulim Veterans Football Cup organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim at church ground, Seraulim, on Monday.
Calangute Veterans’ all-important goal came from the boots of their star striker Alwyn Fernandes in the 17th minute of play when his shot from just inside the box pierced into the far corner of the goal giving no chance to the agile keeper Martin Dias.
At half time, Calangute Veterans lead 1-0. The second half belonged more to Chinchinim Veterans, who were all out for an equaliser. However, the Calangute defence and goalkeeper were hard to crack.
