MAPUSA: Dempo Sports Club had an easy outing as they trounced Vasco Sports Club by 8-1 margin in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Sunday.
Dempo SC coach fielded almost their I-League squad with just a month for the I-League to start.
Though Golden Eagles had better ball possession and attempts at the rival goal, it was Port Towner’s who surprised their opponents, in the 13th minute with medio Manglieboi Neihsial latching a 25-yard left footer which crashed into the top corner of Dempo SC goal 1-0.
Stung by the reverse, Golden Eagles levelled terms five minutes later where a floater by Seigoumang to unmarked Laximanrao Rane, whose left footer hit the crossbar before entering the goal 1-1.
Earlier in the match, Dempo SC’s Shubham Rawat strike from close hit defender for corner.
Golden Eagles continued dominating, where in the 24th minute, a stiff grounder by Seigoumang travelled just past the far post.
Finally, in the added time of the first half, a hot-blooded shot by Laximanrao Rane took a wicked deflection off the leg of rival defender as the ball rolled into the net, 2-1.
At the other end, a pinpoint cross from the left flank by Vasco SC’s Benjamin Lupheng was timely paired to safety by Dempo SC’s custodian Ashish Sibi before Khanngam Horam could nod the ball home.
On resumption of play, hardly had the spectators taken their seats in the stadium, Golden Eagles pumped in their third goal.
A cross by striker Shubham Rawat was slammed into the goal by Laximanrao Rane to complete his hat-trick, 3-1.
As the match progressed, Golden Eagles pinned their opponents inside their own territory and pumped in five more goals.
The fourth goal was a self-goal by Vasco SC goalkeeper Haokip, while Laximanrao Rane netted his fourth goal to make it 5-1.
In the last quarter of the match, substitute Bedashwar Singh netted a brace, while Asmon Viegas completed the rout 8-1.
