FC Goa down Sporting Clube de Goa

MAPUSA/RAIA: Unbeaten FC Goa registered a fluent 3-1 win over Sporting Clube de Goa in the Reliance Foundation Development U-21 League, held at Guirim ground, here, on Tuesday.

Young Gaurs maintained their unbeaten run in the ongoing tournament to find Laltlanzova, Likson Rebelo and substitute Merwin Fernandes score for the winner with Sporting skipper Liston Cardoz pulled a goal for his team.

The first session was equally fought apart from a 25-yard strike by Young Gaurs Laltlanzova which separated both the teams.

On resumption of play Young Gaurs had number of scoring opportunities to further increase the lead but Likson Rebelo’s stiff grounder was brilliantly saved by Sporting goalkeeper Rakshad Rathod, who once again saved Lemmet Tangvah shot.

At the other end Sporting came close in levelling terms but Francisco Fernandes shot skywards from close. However in the 57th minute skipper Liston Cardozo leapt high above the Young Gaurs defenders to nod the ball into the goal off a corner from Jonas Colaco, 1-1.

Sporting should have taken the lead in the 72nd minute but Francisco tapped the ball out from close off a brilliant cross by Crespo D’Souza.

In the last ten minutes of the match Young Gaurs pumped in two more goals with Likson Rebelo scoring a gem of a goal from inside the penalty box and Merwin Fernandes finding the nets off a 25-yard strike, 3-1.

At Utorda ground, Pax of Nagoa SC defeated FC Mardol, 6-0. Sidney Gauncar netted a brace while Climax Fernandes, Royal Oliveira and Minguel Pereira netted a goal each.
