RAIA: Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda, defeated Raia Sporting Club, 6-4, to advance to the quarterfinals of the 32nd Curtorim Panchayat Cup, held at St Alex Church ground on Wednesday.
Paroda took the lead in the 10th minute when Melson's shot deflected off a Raia defender. Joy Fernandes added the second goal and Dranzil made it 3-0 before halftime. Paroda extended their lead with goals from Salvin Fernandes and Melson, making it 5-0.
Raia responded with two quick goals from Oilex Oliveira, narrowing the gap to 5-2. However, Joy Fernandes scored again for Paroda, bringing it to 6-2. Raia fought back with two late goals from Silvano and Rio, but Paroda held on for the win.
Joy Fernandes was named Man of the Match, presented by Panch member James D’Costa.
