Geno, Pax of Nagoa to participate in GPL

PANJIM: Geno Sports Club, Mapusa, and Pax of Nagoa, Verna will participate in the 2023-24 Goa Professional League this year, as their direct bids have been accepted by GFA.

Another third club that of Dattaraj Salgaocar will join the league in 2024-25. Pax of Nagoa contributed Rs 30 lakhs and Geno SC, along with Dattaraj Salgaocar (corporate), whose name is yet to be announced, offered a corporate fee of Rs 50 lakhs each.

Both Geno as well as Pax had made their intentions known to participate in GPL last year. 

"We are thrilled to announce a major expansion of the Goa Professional League with the addition of three new clubs. We are confident that these new entrants will add fervor and competitiveness to the league," declared president Caitano Fernandes at the press conference.

The GFA has increased the referees' remuneration by 30-40 percent. Savio Medeira, who is no longer with AIFF, has been appointed as a co-opted member, honoring him in the eminent player's category which was vacant for the last one year.
