MAPUSA: FC Goa registered a fluent 3-1 win over Guardian Angel SC in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Friday.

After the win, FC Goa have six points, while Guardian Angel SC have one point. Maxson Lopes scored for Guardian Angel SC colts in the very 2nd minute, only to find Livian Clemente (37th minute) score an own goal, Jovial Dias (71st minute) and Lalthangliana (84th minute) netted for FC Goa.

Both teams took the field on a promising note.

Guardian Angel SC having drawn their last GPL match forged ahead in the very 2nd minute from a defensive error by defender Balkaran Singh and goalkeeper Lionel Rymmei to find Guardian Angel SC’s striker Clifton Rebello sent a cut back pass to Maxson who stabbed the ball into the back of the nylon, 1-0.

Down by the early goal, Young Gaurs came with series of attacks but twice U-21 Bryson Pereira shot skywards from close.

Also defender Konsam Singh, who had moved upfront darted inside the penalty box but was thwarted by Guardian Angel SC’s custodian Oswin Rodrigues in one to one situation.

However, finally, in the 37th minute, Young Gaurs netted their equaliser. Medio Malsawntluanga, who worked tirelessly found U-21 Davis Fernandes on the left flank, who sent a deadly cross at the goal area only to see the ball take a wicked deflection off the leg of Guardian Angel SC’s defender U-21 Livan Clement and enter the goal, 1-1.

On crossing over, it was total domination from Young Gaurs who time and again attacked the rival citadel. Jovial Dias was unlucky twice not to score from close. First his header came off the horizontal bar, while he next missed an open sitter.

Another opportunity went in vain where Davis Fernandes cross was cleared on the goal line by Guardian Angel SC’s defender Peter Carvalho.

After numerous missed chances, Young Gaurs pumped in two goals through Jovial Dias’ (71st minute) firm header and a scorching right-footer from outside the penalty box by Lalthangliana in the 84th minute, 3-1.
