RAIA: Navelim Sporting Club secured a convincing 2-0 win over hosts Betalbatim Sports Club to enter into the final of 2nd Betalbatim Villagers Cup 2024 organised by Betalbatim Sports Club at panchayat ground, Betalbatim, on Thursday.
After a barren halftime, both teams remained 0-0 draw. In the second half, Navelim SC took control of the game and Velington Almeida’s powerful 30-yard shot curved in the net beating goalkeeper in the 40th minute of play.
Then Betalbatim SC’s combination of Dylan, Dickson and Oliver made a move to find an equaliser but Navelim SC defence stood firm and denied the equaliser.
As the match progressed, again Velington fired from edge of the box beating the defence and goalkeeper to score his brace in the 55th minute, to take Navelim SC in the final.
Navelim Sporting Club will meet Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, in the final to be played on October 20.
Velington Almeida of Navelim SC was awarded the man-of-the-match for his outstanding performance on the field by Constancio Miranda, former sarpanch.
