PYA take it easy against St Mathew’s SC, gain 3 points

PANJIM: Piedade Youth Association outplayed St Mathew’s Sports Club, Azossim 4-1 in the Goa Football Association Division III League Ilhas Zone match played at Montfort ground.

In the beginning, the match witnessed rough tackles from St Mathew’s Sports Club forwards. The islanders showed some excellent footballing skills and scored two goals with the effort of Aditya Vaingankar.

At the lemon break, PYA were leading 2-0.

On resumption of play, both teams started on a good note and were equal to their task. PYA’s Rohan Pednekar collected the ball from the midfield, dribbled past the rival defenders and unleashed a power-packed shot to directly land into the goal, 3-1.

Nihar Parsekar added his name to the scorer’s list of PYA making it 4-0.

Thereafter, St Mathew’s Sports Club went all out in search of goals but only managed to net one.

Earlier, Piedade Youth Association had an easy outing against Aivao United FC to register a 7-1 victory at Agassaim ground.

The islanders had the first look at rival goal in the very 6th minute with forward Aditya Vaingankar netting the goal coolly by beating the onrushing goalkeeper.

With a goal advantage, PYA started attacking the rival citadel in search of more goals but Aivao United FC were equal to the task to hold the opponent back.

In the bargain, Aivao United FC defender defaulted and referee awarded a penalty to PYA, wherein Rohan Pednekar made no mistake to net in, 2-0.

Aditya inflated the lead for PYA by scoring the third goal to complete his brace. Soon, Rohan stepped up to score the fourth goal.

Later on, the islanders dominated the proceedings. But one wrong move made by PYA cost them a goal as Aivao United FC forward Raunak swiftly collected the ball from the forward and dribbled past the rival defenders to shoot in the corner of the goal.

At lemon break, PYA were leading 4-1.

On resumption of play, both teams regrouped with renewed ideas and were equal to their task in the beginning.

But as the match progressed, the islanders had an upper hand and scored three quick goals. Rohan again netted to complete his hat-trick and to become the top scorer of the league. Dugesh Naik and Soham Mardolkar scored the other two goals.
