RAIA: Sarzora Sports Club downed United Club of Verna 3-0 to enter into quarter-finals of Marcus (Mark) Mascarenhas memorial trophy football tournament played at Chinchinim Church ground.
Sarzora Sports Club scored their opening goal in the 17th minute as Rowan Fernandes scored from a free-kick taken by Piedade Fernandes. Rowan doubled the lead in the 18th minute as he converted from an assist of Nigel Fernandes.
United Club of Verna tried their best to reduce the margin but Sarzora SC defence held them well. At half time, Sarzora SC were leading 2-0.
In the second half, Om Raikar scored the third goal for Sarzora SC from a pass of Leslie Costa. United Club of Verna tried hard but could not get the site of Sarzora SC goal. Wife of late Marcus, Agnes Mascarenhas Agnes presented the man-of-the-match to Rowan Fernandes of Sarzora SC.
