Sesa FA, Goa Police share point

MAPUSA: Sesa Football Academy and Goa Police SC were locked in a goalless draw in the Goa Professional League match played at Sirsaim ground, on Sunday.

After Sunday’s drawn encounter, Goa Police have 19 points from eight matches, while Sesa FA have 14 points from seven.

Playing on their home turf, much was expected from Sesa FA lads but not a single threatening strike was made at the rival goal.

Also a commendable job was done by Goa Police last line of defence lead by Brian Faria, Harshad Gaonkar, Prajwal Gadhi, Raju Abbigiri and Rui Noronha along with goalkeeper Saiesh Kunkolkar, who kept Sesa FA strikers Omkar Shetgaonkar, Clencio Pinto and Sachidanand Satelkar at bay.

In the second session of play, Goa Police did have two good attempts at the rival goal but Sesa FA’s custodian Sapam Singh came to his team’s rescue.

Chaitan Dabholkar cross was smartly connected at the goal by Ronaldo Oliveira only to find goalkeeper fist the ball to safety.

Another chance went abegging for Goa Police when substitute Francisco Fernandes’ strike was saved by the custodian.

Darsh leads AIM Cricket Academy to victory in Winter Cup

PANJIM: AIM Cricket Academy, Sawantwadi, emerged victorious in the Winter Cup Panchgani Under-12 Leather Ball Cricket Tournament, defeating Yashvi Cricket Academy from Pune in a thrilling final, played at Panchgani, Satara.

The tournament featured four teams in total: Success Cricket Academy from Umbraj, Rising Star Cricket Academy from Mumbai, alongside the two finalists, AIM Cricket Academy and Yashvi Cricket Academy.

AIM Cricket Academy's captain, Darsh Sawant, played a pivotal role in his team's journey to the finals, steering them through tough matches. Sawant’s exceptional performances earned him two prestigious awards at the conclusion of the tournament: best batsman and best wicketkeeper.

A highlight of the journey was a crucial 94-run partnership between Sawant and Mayank Rawool, which significantly contributed to their success. Rawool scored 44 runs, while Sawant added 31 runs, helping to set a solid foundation for the team's final push.

In addition, Tanmay Kalsulkar was honoured with the best bowler trophy, rounding off a successful tournament for the AIM Cricket Academy team.
