Shree Damodar, Shree Mallikarjun, Narayan Zantye, Dempo College and CES make it to next round

PANJIM: VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, Margao, triumphed over PES’ Rajaram and Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy, Farmagudi, 6-0, in the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Football Championship for Men, at the Goa University ground, on Saturday.

During the first half, Shree Damodar College established their dominance by netting four goals, with Nayab Khan scoring in the 3rd and 12th minute, Ainan Mascarenhas in the 21st minute and Devkaran Ram in the 22nd minute.

In the second half, Nayab Khan added two more goals in the 39th and 54th minute, achieving a hat-trick and further cementing the team’s victory.

In the second match, Shree Mallikarjun College and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College of Arts and Commerce, Canacona, achieved a decisive win over Shree Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering and Information Technology, Shiroda, 5-0.

The first half saw three goals, with Vishwajeet Gaonkar scoring in the very 2nd minute, Swetan Gaonkar in the 4th minute and Rohan Gaonkar in the 19th minute.

In the second half, Shree Mallikarjun College further secured their win by netting two additional goals, courtesy Rahul Gaonkar in the 45th minute and Velyod D’Souza in the 58th minute.

In the third match, Rosary College of Commerce and Arts from Navelim triumphed over Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi, 5-0.

The first half featured two goals, with Sheldon Fernandes finding the net in the 6th minute and A Gomes adding another in the 20th minute. The second half saw Rosary College maintain their dominance, scoring three additional goals. Garrison Fernandes netted one in the 39th minute, A Gomes in the 46th minute and Garrison again in the 51st minute.

At Rosary Church ground, Narayan Zantye College of Commerce, Bicholim, edged past Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem, 3-2.

The first half showcased Narayan Zantye College’s superiority, as they netted two goals, with Sitaram Pirankar scoring in the 16th minute and Tanmay Naik adding another in the 34th minute.

As the second half commenced, Govt College Quepem staged a comeback, levelling the score with two goals from Daksh Nadvimanni in the 38th minute and Shrine Clement in the 45th minute. However, Narayan Zantye College quickly regained the lead with a goal from Nikhil Kolkar in the 51st minute, and they maintained their advantage through solid defensive play to secure the victory.

In the second match, Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira-Bambolim thrashed Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora, 4-0. SS Dempo exhibited complete control throughout the match, netting two goals in each half. The standout player, Topon Minj, was instrumental in the win, scoring all four goals in the 4th, 9th, 40th and 41st minute.

In the third match, CES College of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim, achieved a resounding win over Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Miramar, 8-0, having scored four goals in each half.

The first half commenced with Saish Gaonkar netting two consecutive goals in the 15th and 28th minute. Tohid Yattanli then added the third goal in the 31st minute, Saish Gaonkar completing his hat-trick with another goal in the 35th minute.

The second half saw continued dominance from CES College, beginning with Dikshay Gaonkar scoring in the 38th minute. Vedant Valke contributed a goal in the 51st minute and Tohid Yattanli added another in the 53rd minute. Finally, Saish Gaonkar capped off the scoring with his fourth goal in the 55th minute.
