Shree Mallikarjun, Parvatibai Chowgule, Quepem Govt College & Dempo march ahead

PANJIM: In the opening match of the day at Goa University ground, Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Khandola, got a walkover over Goa College of Architecture, Altinho-Panjim, while Rajaram and Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy, Farmagudi, also got a walkover over Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao, in the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Football Championship 2024-25 for Men.

In the third match, Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College of Arts and Commerce, Canacona, triumphed over Ganpat Parsekar College of Education, Harmal, 6-4.

The first half saw both teams engaging in a balanced exchange of offensive and defensive plays, resulting in a score of 3-2 in favour of Shree Mallikarjun College. The goals for Shree Mallikarjun College were netted by Rahul Gaonkar in the 22nd minute, followed by Vishwajeet Gaonkar, who scored in the 28th and 34th minute. For Ganpat Parsekar, Viddhesh Faraz contributed two goals in the first half, scoring in the 3rd and 30th minute.

The second half commenced with Shree Mallikarjun College continuing their dominance, as they added three more goals to their tally. Swetan Gaonkar scored in the 51st minute, followed by Rohan Gaonkar in the 55th minute and Rahul Gaonkar scored in the 58th minute. Ganpat Parsekar, however, fought back and managed to score two additional goals through Viddesh Faraz, who struck back-to-back in the 60th and 69th minute.

At Rosary College ground, Navelim, the opening match of the day saw Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Margao, triumph over V M Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Management, Raia, 4-1.

In the first half, Parvatibai Chowgule College netted two goals, which came from Shanon Furtado scoring in the 8th minute and Mahony Pereira adding another in the 33rd minute. V M Salgaocar Hospitality managed to score one goal through Aden Dias in the 48th minute.

The second half featured two additional goals for Parvatibai Chowgule College, courtesy Adarsh Ray in the 56th minute and Rio Rebelo in the 78th minute.

At Chowgule College ground, Margao, in the second match, the Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem, triumphed over Goa Medical College with a score of 3-0.

The first half concluded without any goals. However, the second half proved to be exciting, featuring three goals from Government College, scored by Suraj Gaonkar in the 50th minute, VishaweshVelip in the 65th minute and Sylvester Fernandes in the 69th minute.

In the third match of the Dempo Charities Trust’s Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira, the team faced Agnel Institute of Technology and Design, Assagao, achieving a decisive victory with a score of 5-0.

The first half concluded with no goals scored as both teams demonstrated strong offensive and defensive strategies.

However, in the second half, S S Dempo College took control of the game, scoring five consecutive goals. Prajyot Shirodkar opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, followed by Mohit Kankonkar, who netted goals in the 50th and 63rd minute. Swavel Furtado contributed a goal in the 53rd minute, and Tejas Gauns added another in the 58th minute.
