Kidnapping Conspiracy : Pernem Police arrest 2 Including IRBn Constable

In a swift operation, Pernem Police have successfully cracked a sensational kidnapping case involving a 1.5-year-old boy from Korgao. The incident occurred when two men arrived on a motorcycle, one of whom entered the boy's house and attempted to abduct him from his grandfather's custody on Friday evening.

As the suspect rushed toward his accomplice, who was waiting on the motorcycle, the grandfather and other family members raised the alarm. Their cries drew the attention of neighbors, who quickly intervened, rescuing the child and detaining the first accused on the spot. The second suspect managed to flee on the motorcycle.

Pernem Police arrived promptly and took the detained man into custody. A case was registered under sections 137(2) r/w 3(5) of BNS 2023 and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act.

During the investigation, the arrested suspect revealed the involvement of Mr. Nikesh Chari, an IRBn Police Constable from the same village, Korgao. Chari, who is currently attached to the Ribandar Camp, was taken into custody and arrested.

Police also seized the motorcycle used in the crime, bearing the registration number MH-07-M-4271, and a car, MH-43-V-9842, which was allegedly involved in the offense.

The suspects, identified as Mr. Sanjay Baburo Narvekar, 47, a lifeguard from Shiroda, Maharashtra, confessed to the crime.

Both are being interrogated to determine the exact motive behind the kidnapping attempt.

A report will be submitted for appropriate disciplinary action against IRBn Constable Chari. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of SDPO Pernem Dalvi, with the assistance of P.I. Sachin Lokre, PSI Vivek Halarnkar, PSI Prathamesh Parsekar, PSI Navneeth Goltekar, and constables Sagar Khorjuvekar, Shashank Sakhalkar, and Mithil Parab.
