Award winning Matoli wonders for Lord Ganesha

Directorate of Art & Culture organised the annual State level Matoli competition for household individuals during the Ganesh Chaturthi Festival in Goa. The department organises this contest with an objective to preserve and promote the age old tradition of the Matoli decoration. This year, overall 13 households from all over Goa participated in the competition, that was judged by Rajendra Kerkar, Gopinath Gawas and Deepak Gad.

The winners of the competition 2024 were recently declared. The first prize was awarded to Datta Shambu Naik from Gauthon, Priol, Ponda. Tanaji K Gawde from Talule, Bandora, Ponda won the second prize while the third prize of was won by Devu Satyawan Shetkar from Pilliem, Dharbandora. The fourth prize was awarded to Trupti Palkar from Bondyewada, Savoi Verem, Ponda, and the fifth prize was awarded to Srikant P Satarkar from Rait, Kopawada, Curti, Ponda.

The winners of five consolation prizes are Vishant Vasant Gaude, Kelbai, Curti, Ponda, Ranganath G Gaonkar, Vaiginem, Mayem, Bicholim, Ramakant Duklo Gaonkar, Gothawada, Betoda, Ponda, Shivaji R Ozarkar, Bambar, Nanoda, Sattari and Vithoba Gawde, Gothan, Ponda. The winners of Matoli competition will be awarded certificates and cash prizes at special function.
