Taleigao Celebrates Harvest Feast
Published on

The parishioners of St Michael's Church, Taleigao, gathered to celebrate their traditional and historic harvest feast. This year, the celebration was led by the Falcão family, with Lourenço Falcão at the helm.

Festivities began with a procession led by the feast president, accompanied by the Confrades carrying the statue of their patron St Michael the Archangel, Fr Cipriano da Silva and the parishioners. The procession made its way to the designated field, where a short prayer and blessings were offered by the priest. The feast president then ceremonially cut the sheaves with a silver sickle, followed by the priest. The blessed sheaves were placed in a silver tray and reverently carried back to the Church for a special thanksgiving Mass. On the way, the procession made a brief stop at St Michael's Chapel to place the sheaves at its altar.

The solemn High Mass for the feast was celebrated by Msgr Simião Purificação Fernandes, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman, with Fr Cipriano da Silva (parish priest), Fr Haston Fernandes (assistant parish priest) and Fr Henry Falcao as co-celebrants.

Dr Simiao Fernandes was felicitated by Fr Cipriano on his first visit to the parish where he worked earlier as an assistant parish priest. During the Mass, the parish bulletin ‘Tallganvcho Porzoll’ was also released.
