PANJIM: a 77 year old woman from Sanguem --Bomi Zore is on a hunger strike at Azad Maidan Panjim, Goa fearing that her house will be demolished.
The woman had been given the house under the 20 Point Programme in Uguem Sanguem. The neighbours have an eye on her property knowing that she has no one who is looking after her.
Bemi Zore has ver alleged they her neighbours want to encroach her house and are harassing her. Bomi said even as the case is before the Sanguem Mamlatdar, her advocate is telling her that the house would have to be demolished. She alleged that her neighbors have stolen items from her property and given her death threats with filthy words. Two years ago Bomi had submitted a complaint letter to the Chief Minister and to South Goa Collector, but till now no action has been taken.
Zore expressed her frustration and discontent over the mistreatment done by her neighbours. She accused MLA Subhash Phaldessai and the Panchayat body of being complicit in the matter. She alleged that her neighbors have stolen 10 bamboos, 120 stone Bricks, 9 Nilgiri wooden poles, 200 roof tiles
She also alleged that the neighbours had dismantled the toilet roof preventing her from using the toilet. Bomi claim that she had sought help from the local MLA and social welfare minister Subhash Phaldessai but the Minister in turn told her to seek help from the police. She demanded strict action to be taken immediately and her plot to be reverted to her.
