PANJIM/MARGAO: As people’s protest explode all across the state, against the unwarranted statement made by former RSS Goa Chief Subhash Velingkar against St Francis Xavier, and shattered the peace in the otherwise tolerance and peaceful state, Ministers and Ruling MLAs are now feeling the heat.
At First Calangute MLA Michael Lobo remarked St Francis Xavier is a saint who is revered by all communities. He said instead of testing St Francis Xavier’s DNA it is Velingkars DNA that should be tested. Also his head needs to be tested, for making such remarks, Lobo had stated a few days ago.
On Saturday, after there were sustained protests in Margao first at the Fatorda and Margao Police Stations Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira has said Velingkar statement on DNA test is madness and he will be arrested.
“I know for sure that police have registered a case. I know for sure that police are on the lookout for him. Police have been posted even at his house. I can make a statement on behalf of the government that he will be 100% arrested. As of now we do not know where he is hiding,” Aleixo Sequeira said.
Sequeira said I made a statement a couple of days ago and questioned whose DNA Velingkar wants to check.
Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo said that St Francis Xavier is a saint who is revered by all religions and he is called as ‘Goencho Saib’. He (Velingkar) has said DNA ( of St Francis Xavier) should be tested. He should first go to the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour and take some advice. I want to tell the CM, these people are arrested and next day they are out on bail and after that the court case will go on endlessly. In the next assembly session we should make a law that such things do not happen,” the Siolim MLA stated.
