MARGAO : Beef shops in SGPDA market Fatorda downed their shutters due to shortage of beef. This happened a day before the Catholic community celebrates All Souls Day on Saturday, 2nd November.

All the beef sellers in SGPDA market get beef supply from Goa Meat Complex. They complained that they received small quantity of beef in the morning which quickly got over.

Hence they had to close their shops Friday morning itself after exhausting their stock. The beef shortage is plaguing the SGPDA market for the last one month.

Tomorrow is All Souls Day and there is no beef in the SGPDA market at Fatorda, Goa, Since morning many people have made visits to the shops but there is no stock. Whatever little quantity of beef they received from the Goa Meat Complex is over. I appeal to the CM to restore regular supply of beef since our ancestors have been eating beef for centuries.

Today there is shortage of beef in the SGPDA market. Beef is a must at any Catholic or Muslim function. Government should pay immediate attention to it. This is all legally procured beef from Goa Meat Complex. So everything is checked in terms of quality, hygiene etc. Government should make an assessment of regular daily consumption and festival time consumption and should make up for the shortfall.
