BJP out to destroy Goa through land use changes, alleges Sherlekar

PANJIM: While Chief Minister Pramod Sawant claimed to take proactive measures to protect natural resources and biodiversity of Goa, The Town and Country Planning Department has notified 7 zone changes to settlement. On 11 September 2024, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had shown his commitment to protect the Goan environment and eco sensitive zones. However, on the very next day 12 September, 2024, the TCP department effected the zone changes in direct opposition to the CM’s statement.

The TCP’s move is in complete contravention to the Chief Minister’s claim, Activist Swapnesh Sherlekar pointed out. Of these four zone are in the North and three in the South. Three zone changes have been effected in the South and four in the North.

The zones which have been changed in the South are -- Sao Jose de Areal, Cortalim and Nagoa

The zones changed in the North are --Latambarcem, Mandrem and two zone changes in Anjuna in the North.
